Doctors Without Borders’ (Medecins Sans Frontieres) “Refugee Camp in the Heart of the City” is on tour in Toronto this week (May 27-30). The goal is to raise awareness about the organization and to provide visitors with information about how they assist the world refugees and displaced population.
A refugee camp is on exhibit in Toronto’s Christie Pits park. It’s amazing to see and learn about the different areas of a typical refugee camp. I highly recommend this exhibit!

The tour began here.
This volunteer acted as a border official who asked a lot of questions concerning the reason for entry … durations, etc.

Field Clinic

We learned about water purification here. Caroline, the tour guide pictured here, was most recently in Haiti and offered us fresh examples about how this process works in the field. In addition to Haiti, she has worked in Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Burkina Faso.

There were a lot of school groups in attendance.
